Description
I recently visited the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. There were many paintings, drawings, and photographs there documenting the life of Frida Kahlo as well as her husband, Diego Rivera, and many other Mexican artists of her era. But what stopped me in my tracks were the eight mannequins dressed with Kahlo’s hand made dresses embellished with traditional Tehuana embroidered flowers and other design elements. I rushed home and immediately began painting the brightly colored flowers in my new contemporary style of watercolors. Later, I created a repeating pattern with these flowers. That’s what you will see on many of the products in this collection. I also created several other patterns using these flowers and a colorful parrot.
